Yesterday many people came to see the interview we prepared, along with the interesting lecture of Fabiola Olivieri about extra virgin olive oil and its properties when it comes to health.
We would like to thank everybody who came but especially Walter Olivieri that shared his memories with us and Fabiola Olivieri for her contribution to the event.
This was the conclusion of our summer openings but, like every year, the place remains open all year long for visits on request, also for schools.

September 21st, 2015

Here it is: a little preview of what Walter Olivieri told us about life at the mill.
To see the whole thing, come on Sunday, September the 20th, 4 p.m. for the event called "Olio, elisir di lunga vita".

September 10th, 2015

After a long summer of work at the mill, the closing event has come: this year we are going to show the interview with Walter Olivieri about his life working at the mill.
Along with his memories, Fabiola Olivieri will talk about nutrition and health, specifically when it comes to extra virgin olive oil.
Here below, the flyer and the press realease with all the details.

Last Saturday during the beautiful sunny afternoon we had the pleasure to listen Marco Moschini that delighted us with his poems: he manages to make words live thanks to his small toys.
A huge thank you to him and to the public library workers that organized the kid's game: they have been the real treasure of the day!

June 1st, 2015

No matter what happened, with the help of a little sunny weather this week, on Saturday our opening event will take place anyway.
Here you find the flyer with all the details (in Italian, of course).
Come find us starting from 3.30 p.m. for a very nice afternoon together!

May 25th 2015

Bad news were waiting for us when we arrived at the mill: yesterday's rain caused landslides along the streets, flooded the field but worst than everything, went inside the dyke filling the canal with water and soil and reaching some of the inner spaces.
So the mill will be closed today and tomorrow.
When the rain will stop, it will be possible to start cleaning for next week's event.

May 23rd, 2015

While we are working on the last details for our opening summer event on the 30th of May, we are ready to welcome visitors during the next weekend, on May 23rd and 24th.
During the same weekend in Madonna del Piano there will also be the Flower Festival, at the S. Maria in Portuno church, very close to us. The mill will be open from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Click on the image below to read all the details about the Festival on Corinaldo's website.

May 22nd UPDATE: the Flower Festival has been postponed to June 7th, due to bad weather. The mill will be open anyway on Saturday and Sunday, from 4 to 7 p.m.

May 18th, 2015

We have a new initiative for the spring/summer coming: the local painter Sonia Gramolini will teach a course of drawing and painting at the mill during the month of June.
Write us an email if you are interested, all the details are in the flyer (click to enlarge).

May 2nd, 2015

Our organic vegetable garden is finally coming together, thanks to the help of all the students of our course.
After we prepared the soil, the irrigation system was set up, we planted and then covered everything with the straw.
We also covered the tomato plants to protect them from the night temperature that could still be too cold for them.
So we cannot wait to see the first courgette, tomatoes and salads grow and ripen!

Aprile 26th, 2015

On Monday, April 6th, from 3 to 6.30 p.m. the mill will be open for a special day when you can visit the collection and have a nic picnic lunch on the lawn, among beautiful blooming trees.

April 3rd, 2015

Last Saturday, March 28th, the regional news program broadcasted live from Corinaldo, with a brief footage filmed at the mill.
They showed the flour room, the walking trail and our Little Free Library: a very nice video that already brought visitors!
You can check the video at this Facebook link.

If you would like to come and visit the place, don't forget that you can write us an email to set an appointment (
Moreover, during 2015 the mill will be open every Saturday and Sunday, from 4 to 7 p.m., starting May 23rd until September 20th.
And we are glad to announce that our very first event this year will be held on Saturday 30th of May with an afternoon dedicated to books and activities for kids and children, so don't miss it!

March 30th, 2015

The first part of our course has ended.
Claudio Bignami taught the three lessons at the mill, where there were more than 20 people, explaining all the necessary phases to start growing your own organic vegetable garden.
At the end of the last lesson, we prepared some food, for a convivial moment, full of more questions for the course's teacher.
A huge thank to Claudio Bignami that shared his time and his much precious experience with us and thank also to all the people that participated showing great interest.
See you soon to start working and put into practice everything we learnt.
Here below, a few images:

February 8th, 2015

2015 has just begun and we are ready to start with lots of activities!
Our first activity is directly linked to what we did last September, the round table dedicated to organic agriculture.
One of the producers that was at our little farmers market, will in fact teach for us how to grow an organic vegetable garden: there will be 3 theoretical lessons on Fridays, January 23rd, 30th and February 6th, from 6 p.m to 8 p.m, at the mill.
During next spring, we will then practice on the field, deciding days and time according to the participants' needs.
You can sign up at the cost of 10 euros (which includes 2015 membership card) by emailing us at or calling +39 071 67230, before January 18th.
Here below, the flyer of the initiative.

January 7th, 2015

After the kindergarden kids, a big group of children and adults contacted us and visited the collection yesterday: while the grown ups were admiring the inside place, the kids were enchanted by the cane-brake.
In fact, even if the summer openings are over, it is always possible to call us or write us to book a guided tour, using our contacts: +39 071 67230 - +39 347 6802939 or
We are also always available for the schools that want to book a visit and a guided activity: here our PROPOSALS (in Italian).
In the meantime, while we are editing the video material of the year, already thinking about 2015 events, new trees are bed out (a few pictures here below).

November 24th, 2014

Many kids from kindergarden and primary school came to visit our collection in a beautiful autumn sunny day: they visited the room, they took a walk to the river, they enjoyed themselves trying to take water from the well, they ate and played on the lawn.
In other words, a beautiful morning together.

October 22nd, 2014

Many kids took part in Sunday's photographic treasure hunt, organized for the Family Day at Museums.
After visiting the collection's room, they tried to locate a few objects starting from the photographed details, to compose the jigsaw puzzle that indicated the treasure.
After eating together, along with playing on the lawn outside, the kids also drew what they liked most inside the mill.
Down below, a few pictures of the afternoon and the kids' drawings.
Thanks to all those who participated!

August 19th, 2014

Yesterday morning the mill hosted a group of 19 kids from Corinaldo for the closing day of the project "One month together".
Despite the uncertain weather and a few drops of rain, after visiting the collection the kids tried the orienteering path prepared for them, with a little final test and a book from our Littel Free Library as a prize.
The association Il molino racconta thanks the association La Voce del Cuore that accepted our collaboration offer, Filippo Saccinto, the kids and their parents and invites everybody to come back to visit us soon!

August 1st, 2014

The guided activities for kids are ongoing. In the flyer, we are presenting the next for Saturdays: Treasure hunting, Objects second-life, The time machine and The mini mill-olympics.
As always, the activities will be held during the opening hours (4 to 7 p.m.), at the cost of 3 euros.

TÓja 'l gran tropp alt - BOOK PRESENTATION

After May the 18th, our very first cultural event was successfully organized too.
One of the collection's room was prepared to host the presentation of Mario Pennacchioni's book, helped by the projection of some of the book's images. Introduced by the association president's words and by the journalist Domizia Carafoli, the author of the book entitled "TÓja 'l gran tropp alt" ("It cuts the wheat way too high" referred to the threshing machine that revolutionised farming) told the public how he had the idea to write his piece and explained its structure and details.
The all thing was recorded and we hope to publish an extract pretty soon online. For the moment, here you have a few pictures of a cloudy summer afternoon that at least spared us the rain long threatened.
A big thank you from the association to all those who participated, to the author Mario Pennacchioni and the journalist Domizia Carafoli.

July 15, 2014

Finally, here we are! On Saturday July the 12th the mill will host the presentation of Mario Pennacchioni's book entitled "TÓja 'l gran tropp alt", followed by an aperitif on the lawn. Games for kids will be available and it will be possible to take a free guided tour of the collection after the aperitif. Come and enjoy!

June 30, 2014

While we work to prepare the next events in our agenda, we invite all the kids to come visit us on Saturdays, starting June 21st, to have a fun afternoon on the open air, playing and learning about the mill and the many plants around it.
Here the flyer of the initiative!

It's official now! Our library is the very first Little Free Library in the Marche region appearing on the official American website!!
Click on the image below to find us in the map:

For those who haven't seen it yet, in the Before&After section there are a few images.
A Little Free Library is a house-like wooden container, placed on the lawn, outside the mill and filled with books for children and adults. The original idea came from the United States, where Todd Bol decided to promote reading. The initiative motto is Take a book, return a book, so anybody can take a book while leaving another one.
The project by now counts more than 15.000 Little Free Library around the world and now that we received the official sign and we registered on the map, we became part of this network of book lovers.
So, come try our library and enjoy your reading!

May 29, 2014

The opening day was a great success!
Many families with their children, curios people and nature lovers participated at the association presentation and followed the dramatized tours.
The big surprise announced on the Facebook page was unveiled and a full reportage will soon be published in the Before&After section.
For the moment, here you have a few image of the event and the press release (in Italian), while it's already time to think about the next event.

On Friday, May 23rd, 9 p.m., the mill will host the last appointment of the series entitled THE UNIVERSE'S ADVENTURE: thanks to the telescopes of the Nuova Associazione Senigallia Astrofili we will take a look at some celestial body.

Here below, the presentation of our association, Il molino racconta

We are only a few days away now and we are almost all set: on Sunday the 18th of May the collection will officially re-open!
An afternoon full of news and surprises to open up 2014 season of activities... don't miss it!
Right here, you find the flyer and the press release of the event (in Italian for the time being, in English ASAP..).
In the Before&After section, a few images of the improvement we made in preparation for this event.

The event is part of the International Museum Day

May 9, 2014

Due to the heavy rain and the subsequent floodings and disruptions along the roads, the opening scheduled for this morning was suspended.
We wait for the sunshine to clean it all up again for the big re-opening on May 18th.

May 3, 2014

Bikers in the morning, tourists in the afternoon, guided tours, walks and the very first card subscriptions.
That was Easter Monday at the mill, thanks to a nice sunny day.

April 22, 2014

In a day that began raining cats and dogs and ended with the sun, a group of 35 kids with their teachers arrived at the mill for a guided tour and a guided activity about the myth of the goddess Ceres and the origin of seasons: they listened, watched, acted, drew and explored the place. Such a beautiful day.

April 15, 2014

While we keep working in preparation for the spring, at the mill we had a visit: Andrea Galli, teacher from the University of Ancona, along with 8 second year students and teacher Valentina Piselli.
Aim of the visit: take a close look at the structure of the mill and olive press, the plants around the place and the Cesano river to collect some datas for the development of university projects.
In the meantime, the news of the day is the graft of the vine just arrived from Calabria. Pictures of all the phases in Before&After.

March 13, 2014

The process was pretty long, we asked for many advices and face quite some burocracy but eventually the Association for Social Development named Il molino racconta was officialy born on February 24th, 2014.
We provided it with a brand new page on the website (not yet completed in the English version), a new logo, a Facebook page that we will use to promote the many events planned for the year 2014... what else?
In the meantime, the first buds, the first blossoms and new improvements: a fence for the little bridge, a shiny new board, signs at every corner of the place and more tools saved from dust and the oblivion.
As always, a few pics, in the Before&After section.

February 27, 2014

We keep working to prepare the place for the upcoming spring: while the little bridge has been enlarged for bikers passing by, right next the new sign indicating the compost area, a red maple was planted and the vines supports are appearing.
In Before&After, a few pictures.

January 22, 2014

The chill of December may have slowed down the hard works, but projects keep moving on: while new ideas for the mill are coming up, today the English version of the website is officially launched online.

December 3, 2013

Thanks to the interest of two journalists that discovered us through this very website, this week at the newsstand there were two full pages of pictures about our story.
In the Press Review section you can find the pdf version of the article (in Italian, of course).

November 27, 2013

An unexpectedly warm November allowed the works to continue while sporadic visitors and autonomous bikers keep showing up from time to time, regardless the season. So the two hairpin turns are finally becoming reality: they will allow pedestrians and bikers to face the slope next to the canebrake in the area behind the watermill. In the meantime, a massive cleaning operation is underway and it’s opening big spaces of freedom where the thorns used to rule over every other type of plant. A real blessing for the elder tree and the ash tree that are now free and visible again. You can take a look at a few pictures in the Before&After section, while waiting spring to inaugurate the completed switchback.

November 22, 2013

The weekend summer openings of the collection ended on Saturday and Sunday 28th-29th. About 420 persons visited the collection during this first season of opening. The watermill remains available for openings on request, especially for schools and also during mornings. Meanwhile, we keep working: new trees are about to be planted, while here and there some notice boards begin to appear, to show the visitors what there was where now everything looks clean and neat.

October 2, 2013

Last days raining not only stopped the works but also covered everything. Nevertheless, we are proud to say that the first watermill wheel was brought to light. We were able to see the machinery that used to move the grindstones thanks to the strength of water. It had been buried for years underneath many cubic meter of soil. Images in the Before&After section, just to give you an idea of the progresses we made. Hoping to uncover and make it all visible to the public very soon!

August 27, 2013

During the watermelon party about 60 persons visited the collection from mid afternoon until evening, also with night tours (pictures below).

From the May 1st we counted so far around 380 persons, mostly from Corinaldo but some also coming from other places in the region.
We got watermill lovers, going around to take pictures of them, we got students preparing for a degree with a thesis project about the rivalry between the Cesano valley watermills for the deviation of water and we also got a newly married couple that decided to use the collection as a shooting set.

We are really proud and grateful for all this interest and appreciation and we would like to inform everyone wishing to visit the watermill that the collection will be open with free guided tours every Saturday and Sunday afternoon from 4 to 7 p.m. until September 29th. We are available for guided tours on request also during the week, especially for schools.

August 18, 2013

After May 1st, here’s another chance to visit the collection in a cheerful and friendly atmosphere. Food, music and good company: this is the very first edition of the Watermelon party.
Nothing says more summer than this!

July 30, 2013

Latest news from the watermill: 50 Corinaldo high school students during the months of July and August will be involved in an internship about three themes: society, culture and environment. The aim of this project, developed by the Municipality in collaboration with Ancona Faculty of Agriculture, is to get the students to know the features of different Corinaldo situations among which The Ancient Patregnani watermill. The outcome of this experience will be presented to the community in September. There are many activities we want to suggest the students, after an introduction tour. For example they could recreate scenes of how life used to be inside the mill in the old times or identify and try to explain the sacred images in the rooms. Someone else could try to identify the machineries to make a small dictionary of terms regarding the watermill. And last but not least, a group could work on the outside, recognising the different species of trees recently planted and eventually maybe also plant their own tree.
Hopefully we will have images of the project online pretty soon.

July 7, 2013

We started to work on it on May 1st, a wonderful occasion to meet people that used to work at the watermill or came here in the past. But our project to put together anecdotes, memories and stories to make a small video for the collection has just started. Along with the life and functioning of the watermill, we are also interested in reconstructing the social role that it had in the past, when it used to be a reference point for the surrounding area. You can write us your memories, tell us or let us film you, if you want.
Get in touch with us!

May 6, 2013

So the May 1st celebration happened: lots of people and activities, from morning until late evening, blessed by the weather, spoiled by some rain only in the very late afternoon. Many people visited the collection: we estimated about 200 persons during the 5 guided tours plus many other that decided to take a look on their own. We also collected some memories and a long filmed testimony that we will use to create more material for the visitors to come. Here, a few images of the day.

On the occasion of the celebration of the 1st of May 2013 we are proud to announce the very first special opening of the collection.
News on the Municipality website

Click to see the video on Youtube
Today with a press conference the Corinaldo Municipality presented the collection entitled At the ancient Patregnani watermill, together with the complex's owners. Following the press conference, a guided tour preview for the attendees.

The collection was set with a lot of work and passion by the owners, but it's still under construction. We have lots of ideas to improve it, but for the moment we decided to give people a preview of our work so that they could get the chance to know and appreciate the place and the historic recovery project currently underway.

After the special opening on May 1st, the collection will be open with free guided tours every saturday and sunday afternoon (from 4 to 7 p.m.), starting June 1st 2013.
